Usually in Canada on the highways bikers acknoweldge each other - frequently with a friendly wave sometimes with a nod of the helmet. If the passing bike is of the same brand or model the acknowledgement is usually more vigorous.
IT has been this way for the 39 years I have been a rider.
There certainly is a time and a place when attention should be on the road and not watching other riders though
